Musical Fidelity has introduced the perfect companion for its B1xi integrated amplifier - the new Musical Fidelity B1xcd CD player. At the heart of the unit lies a specialized CD transport featuring the BlueTiger CD-88 servo system, developed by SUOS. According to the manufacturer, this system ensures high-precision digital data retrieval, minimizing the impact of mechanical vibrations and reducing the likelihood of playback errors.

The design follows a purist philosophy, focusing exclusively on compact disc playback without the added complexity of supporting other formats. Digital-to-analog conversion is handled by an ESS Technologies ES9018Q2M Sabre chip. For connection to an amplifier, the player provides a pair of analog RCA outputs. Additionally, it is equipped with both coaxial and optical digital outputs, allowing it to function as a CD transport by sending a digital audio signal to an external DAC.

The technical specifications are highly impressive - the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 112 dB (A-weighted), stereo channel separation is greater than 96 dB, and total harmonic distortion (THD) is kept below 0.003%. The manufacturer emphasizes that the core engineering efforts were focused on ensuring stable data retrieval and high-accuracy conversion of the digital signal into an analog format.

The B1xcd features a metal chassis with a substantial front panel crafted from extruded aluminum. The player measures 430 × 90 × 298 mm and weighs 5.8 kg.
