Norwegian manufacturer Arendal Sound has expanded its 1610 speaker series with the introduction of a limited Black Edition. The new models feature an entirely black finish, offering an alternative to the existing Polar and Basalt color options. The technical specifications remain unchanged, with the company retaining the original driver configuration, cabinet construction, and acoustic performance. The new finish is available across all four models in the series at no additional cost. Positioned below the flagship 1528 range in Arendal Sound's portfolio, the 1610 series is designed for both stereo music systems and multichannel home theater setups.

All Arendal Sound 1610 speakers feature a three-way design with closely matched acoustic characteristics, making it easy to combine different models in various system configurations. Midrange and high-frequency reproduction is handled by the proprietary Røst Essence Acoustic Core module, which integrates a 28 mm tweeter with an aluminum-magnesium alloy dome and a 5-inch midrange driver featuring a carbon-fiber cone. The two drivers are positioned close together within an elliptical waveguide designed to control sound dispersion. According to the manufacturer, this arrangement delivers natural vocal reproduction, precise sound imaging, and consistent sound distribution throughout the listening area.

Low frequencies are reproduced by 8-inch drivers with aluminum cones, engineered for long excursion and low distortion. Particular attention has also been paid to cabinet construction. The curved front baffle helps achieve time alignment between the drivers, while its multilayer HDF structure, measuring 46 mm thick, works together with internal bracing to increase rigidity and minimize unwanted resonances. The crossover networks incorporate carefully selected components, including non-ferromagnetic elements. These engineering solutions are intended to provide high dynamic performance, detailed sound reproduction, and accuracy across a wide range of music and movie soundtracks.

The Arendal Sound 1610 Black Edition lineup includes the Tower 8 floorstanding speakers, Bookshelf 8 standmount speakers, compact Slim 8 speakers designed for placement close to walls, and the Center 8 center-channel speaker. In Europe, the Tower 8 is priced at €6,900 per pair, the Bookshelf 8 at €3,300 per pair, and the Slim 8 at €2,600 per pair, while the Center 8 costs €2,300 per unit. Notably, the Bookshelf 8 has received the EISA Best Product 2026–2027 award in the Premium Bookshelf Loudspeakers category. All four models are already available in the new black finish, although production will be limited.
