Canadian audio manufacturer Simaudio has expanded its Compass series with the new Moon 341 integrated amplifier, designed with a strong emphasis on high-quality music reproduction from analog sources. The unit features an entirely analog architecture, with no built-in DAC, network streamer, or digital inputs. Instead, the engineers focused on refining the amplification stages, incorporating several technologies originally developed for the company's more expensive North Collection components. The new amplifier features a balanced preamplifier architecture and an integrated phono stage, making it a suitable centerpiece for a stereo system, particularly one designed for vinyl playback.

For connecting audio sources, the Moon Compass 341 offers four RCA inputs and one balanced XLR input. One of the unbalanced inputs is connected to a built-in phono stage compatible with both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. The phono stage settings can be adjusted through a graphical menu, allowing users to match its parameters to the characteristics of a specific cartridge. The amplification section incorporates two proprietary Simaudio technologies: the Moon Hybrid Power (MHP) power supply system and Moon Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier (MDCA) technology, designed to minimize nonlinear distortion. Both solutions were previously employed in components from the flagship North Collection and are now available in the more affordable Compass series.

When driving loudspeakers with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the amplifier delivers 100 watts per channel, increasing to 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms. These specifications indicate that the unit is capable of confidently driving relatively demanding loudspeakers. The amplifier offers a gain of 40 dB and a frequency response extending from 5 Hz to 100 kHz (+0/−3 dB). The manufacturer considers the absence of digital components an advantage in terms of longevity, as the amplifier is not affected by changing network protocols or the obsolescence of software platforms. If necessary, the system can be expanded with a separate power amplifier using the dedicated preamplifier output.

The Moon Compass 341 integrated amplifier is available in two finishes: all-black and a two-tone black-and-silver combination. Measuring 429 × 87 × 385 mm and weighing 9 kg, it offers a relatively compact solution for a home Hi-Fi system. The manufacturer also provides a ten-year warranty, emphasizing the model's suitability for long-term use. The recommended retail price of the Moon Compass 341 integrated amplifier is $5,000 in the United States or €5,200 in Europe.
