British audio manufacturer Cambridge Audio has introduced the new Spira turntable, designed for users who want to explore analog sound without having to select and configure every component of their system. The model comes ready to use, complete with a tonearm fitted with an Audio-Technica cartridge, a dust cover, and the necessary accessories. The built-in phono preamplifier allows the turntable to be connected directly to an amplifier or active speakers, while the integrated Bluetooth transmitter enables wireless music playback. Particular attention has been paid to the exterior design: the turntable is available in five colors chosen to complement Cambridge Audio’s L/R series of active speaker systems.

The Cambridge Audio Spira features a belt-drive mechanism with a substantial steel platter weighing 1.8 kg. The platter’s high rotational inertia helps maintain consistent speed and minimizes the impact of short-term speed fluctuations on sound quality. The turntable is built on a rigid wooden plinth with a lacquered finish, while specially designed damping feet help isolate the mechanism from external vibrations. A felt mat provides additional mechanical isolation for records. The turntable supports two playback speeds, 33⅓ and 45 rpm, which can be selected electronically using a rotary control. A hinged, tinted dust cover protects the mechanism and records from dust.

The turntable is equipped with an aluminum tonearm featuring adjustable tracking force and anti-skating, allowing precise optimization of the stylus’s interaction with the record groove. The standard Audio-Technica cartridge supports an upgrade to the Audio-Technica 3600LE elliptical stylus, providing more accurate retrieval of information from vinyl grooves. Thanks to the removable headshell, owners can also install another compatible cartridge. Connectivity options include analog output with either the integrated phono preamplifier or an external, higher-grade phono stage. In addition, the Cambridge Audio Spira can transmit audio via Bluetooth to compatible wireless speakers and headphones. A dedicated grounding terminal is provided to help minimize unwanted noise when using a wired connection.

The Cambridge Audio Spira is available in five finishes: black, white, blue, green, and orange. This color palette allows users to create a visually coordinated system with Cambridge Audio L/R active speakers, although the turntable is fully compatible with equipment from other manufacturers. Its ready-to-use design, flexibility in cartridge selection, built-in phono preamplifier, and wireless connectivity make the Spira a versatile solution for different vinyl listening setups. The turntable can serve as the foundation of either a compact modern audio system or a more traditional Hi-Fi setup built around separate components. The recommended retail price of the Cambridge Audio Spira turntable is $499 in the United States or €349 in Europe.
