LampizatOr has introduced the Horizon 2, an upgraded version of its flagship Horizon tube DAC. The new model builds on the existing platform while incorporating several engineering solutions developed for the company’s higher-end Aphrodite DAC. The key change is a completely redesigned analog stage, which, according to company founder Lukasz Fikus, took around four years to develop.
Alongside the new analog circuitry, the Horizon 2 features an updated SuperVolume control system, a new processor, an OLED display, expanded remote-control functionality, and a new 3xBNC digital interface. LampizatOr emphasizes that the Horizon 2 is not a simplified version of the Aphrodite: the latter retains a considerably more complex architecture, four custom EI transformers, and a significantly more sophisticated analog section. The technologies borrowed from the Aphrodite have instead been adapted to the Horizon platform without altering its core design philosophy.
All newly produced Horizon DACs will now be delivered in Horizon 2 specification, while LampizatOr plans to keep the recommended retail price unchanged at least through the end of 2026. Owners of earlier Horizon and Horizon 360 units can also upgrade their DACs to Horizon 2 specification at the factory for €12,000. The package includes the main hardware and functional improvements introduced with the new version and continues LampizatOr’s policy of providing long-term upgrade paths for its flagship components.
