The SB-1000 Pro is the entry-level sealed subwoofer in the current SVS range and the closed-box half of the 1000 Pro Series, next to the ported PB-1000 Pro. SVS pitches it at smaller rooms and mixed music and film systems where a compact box matters. The list price is USD 599.99, buyers choose a Piano Gloss Black or a Premium Black Ash finish, and SVS gives it five years of unconditional cover.

Key specs that matter

Inside is a 12-inch long-throw woofer fed by the Sledge STA-325D amplifier, rated at 325 watts RMS continuous and above 820 watts of peak dynamic power. The rated response is 20 to 270 Hz within 3 dB on a 2 m ground plane, and SVS notes that small to mid-size rooms typically add another 2 to 3 Hz of extension. The cube-like cabinet stands 34.2 cm tall and 33 cm wide, is 37.5 cm deep with the grille fitted or 35.2 cm without it, and weighs 11.9 kg.

Engineering and use context

The driver was designed for this series and uses an overhung motor giving 13.3 mm Xmax and 26.9 mm Xmech. The complete woofer weighs 3.78 kg, 2.6 kg of that in the two-piece Y30 ferrite magnet assembly, which sits on a 1008 steel T-yoke with an extended pole piece for cooling and a 1010 steel top plate. A 1.5-inch voice coil with six layers of copper winding rides on a 3003-H18 aluminium former, and the treated fibre composite cone is held by an NBR surround and a 6-inch cotton-poly spider in a powder-coated basket shaped by finite element analysis. The Class D output stage runs 34 A, 120 V MOSFETs from an LLC resonant switch-mode supply, and a 50 MHz Analog Devices processor with 56-bit filtering applies EQ and limiter settings specific to the 1000 Pro. On the rear, the Intelligent Feature Control panel uses an 11-segment blue LED bar and push buttons, while the Bluetooth app on iOS, Android or Amazon devices adjusts low pass, phase, polarity and room gain, with three parametric filters in each of three nameable presets.

Pairing

Line inputs are unbalanced stereo RCA at 16 kilohm with matching stereo outputs, and they accept up to 4 V for consumer or pro gear. A speaker-level stereo input at 1 kilohm lets the sub be connected to amplifiers that lack a dedicated subwoofer output. Auto-on and trigger modes are selectable in the app, and the extra-thick ABS fabric grille protects the driver.

Alternatives

The SVS SB-2000 Pro is the sealed model of the 2000 Pro Series, the next series up in the SVS subwoofer range.
