Dynaudio describes the Confidence 30i as the compact floorstander in its Confidence i series, engineered at Dynaudio Labs in Skanderborg, Denmark. It sits between the stand-mounted Confidence 20i and the larger Confidence 50i, and Dynaudio calls it the sportscar of the family. The Confidence i range was announced in October 2026 after eight years of work on the Confidence generation introduced in 2018. The recommended price is EUR 25,000 per pair. Pairs finished in Blonde Wood or in Ruby Wood High Gloss reach European shops from 24 November 2026 and the rest of the world in January 2027, with Space High Gloss due globally in early 2027.

Key specs that matter

Inside the passive three-way reflex cabinet are four drivers. A 28 mm Esotar 3i soft-dome tweeter sits above a 15 cm midrange, and two 18 cm NeoTec woofers handle the lowest band. All three cones are made of MSP, a magnesium silicate polymer. The crossover hands over at 320 Hz and 2,800 Hz using a mix of second and third order filters. Dynaudio rates the frequency response at 39 Hz to 27 kHz, sensitivity at 86 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and nominal impedance at 4 ohm. Long-term power handling to IEC is 350 W. Including feet and grille the cabinet measures 370 mm wide, 1,385 mm high and 438 mm deep, and each speaker weighs 44 kg.

Engineering and use context

Dynaudio Directivity Control first appeared in the Evidence models of 1999 and the Confidence C2 and C4 of 2001, was reworked for the 2018 Confidence and now reaches version 3.0. Here the tweeter, midrange, both woofers and the contoured baffle together form the DDC 3.0 array, which reduces floor and ceiling reflections while widening horizontal dispersion. A redesigned machined DDC Lens surrounds the tweeter, whose magnet assembly and ferrofluid recipe are new for the i generation. On the midrange, a Horizon surround continues the cone profile right out to the driver rim, flush with the baffle. Placing the two woofers at separate heights spreads the low end more evenly through the room. The port fires downward and uses the heavy foot as part of its acoustic path, so the floor surface under the speaker does not alter the tuning. Hard edges are avoided and the back is curved to limit diffraction. The simplified crossover uses Duelund capacitors and the patent-pending Dynaudio UltraPrecision Array resistor, which Dynaudio rates as more than tenfold more precise than stock components.

Pairing

With a 4 ohm load and fairly low efficiency, the 30i wants a transistor amp with current to spare, not low-powered valves. The port venting into the plinth lets it stand on carpet, wood or stone without retuning.

Alternatives

Above it in the Confidence i range stands the Confidence 50i, a taller three-way tower with a second midrange driver.
