The Classic 25 40th Anniversary Edition is a floorstanding loudspeaker from Audio Physic of Germany, built to mark the company's fortieth year. It takes the Classic 25 cabinet and adds a set of parts from the brand's Reference Line. Production is limited to 40 pairs worldwide, and the recommended European retail price is EUR 5,390 per pair including 19% VAT.

Key specs that matter

The speaker works as a passive three-way reflex system. A 215 mm paper cone woofer sits inside the enclosure, a 150 mm glass fibre cone handles the midrange, and the tweeter is the HHCT III from the Reference Line. Audio Physic lists a frequency range of 34 Hz to 30 kHz, sensitivity of 89 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohm. Each cabinet is 1,050 mm tall, 170 mm wide and 290 mm deep, and weighs about 27 kg in glass. Buyers can choose black, white or anthracite glass, or a matt walnut veneer. Input is single-wired through WBT terminals.

Engineering and use context

Audio Physic builds the enclosure as a sandwich - an MDF inner structure faced with glass panels painted on the reverse side and bonded with 2 mm elastic acrylate strips, which leaves a thin air gap between the two layers. The woofer works in its own internal chamber and is not visible from outside, which is why Audio Physic calls it an invisible subwoofer. Its reflex port fires downward, and in this edition a highly porous ceramic foam insert sits at the port mouth. Midrange and tweeter use a dual-basket design so that diaphragm and voice coil are mechanically decoupled from the baffle, and the midrange also has a phase plug. The HHCT III tweeter works in a closed chamber. Compared with the standard model, the anniversary version replaces the usual base plate with aluminium trusses, receives an optimised crossover and adds the Vibration Control Terminal, a connection panel with an integrated structure-borne vibration damper. Brass spikes are supplied, an M8 thread is provided for the feet, and warranty extends to 10 years after registration.

Pairing

An amplifier stable into low impedances is required, and the moderate sensitivity keeps the power demand moderate, with 30 to 180 W given as a suitable amplifier range. With the trusses fitted, each speaker occupies a floor area of 300 x 350 mm.

Alternatives

The regular Audio Physic Classic 25 uses the same glass sandwich cabinet but keeps the standard base plate and terminal without the anniversary parts.
