The Tiny T10 is the smallest model in the T10 loudspeaker series from Bryston of Ontario, Canada. Bryston groups it with the point source designs of the range, as opposed to the partial line array towers, and each speaker is built in Canada and covered by a 20 year warranty for the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship.
Key specs that matter
The Tiny T10 is a vented three-way stand-mount. A single 1 inch titanium tweeter is joined by a 3 inch midrange and a 6.5 inch woofer, and the crossover splits the signal at 250 Hz and 2 kHz. Bryston quotes a range of 60 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB and an impedance of 8 ohms. Sensitivity is given two ways, 87 dB at 1 W and 1 m in an anechoic chamber and 91 dB for in-room measurement. Each speaker stands 394 mm tall, 216 mm wide and 210 mm deep, and weighs 5 kg. According to Bryston, even this smallest model can exceed 100 dB without leaving the response curve measured at reference level.
Engineering and use context
Bryston explains that a perfect point source, a speaker of negligible size radiating the full audio band, is physically impossible, so most designs approximate it with single drivers, coaxial units or tightly clustered two and three-way arrays. The Tiny T10 follows the clustered approach, and its output spreads outward as an expanding sphere instead of the cylinder a line array produces. Bryston calls the cabinet type Reflex and Vortex, and it uses a fluted port profile intended to eliminate vent noise at high pressures. Its drivers were developed with finite element analysis and then verified in the company's anechoic chamber and accelerated life test facility. The same speaker can be ordered in passive or active form, and four swappable modules come with it, letting the owner switch between single-amping, bi-amping, tri-amping and active use. In active form the internal crossover is removed and the external BAX-1 DSP crossover feeds three amplifier channels per speaker. Walnut, Black Ash and Boston Cherry are the in-stock veneers, and further wood and painted finishes can be ordered.
Pairing
Bryston sets the amplifier window at a minimum of 10 watts and a maximum of 250 watts RMS per channel, and its nominal impedance asks relatively little current of the driving amplifier. For home theatre Bryston lists a Tiny TC10 center channel as the matching model in the same family.
Alternatives
The Bryston Compact T10 is the next point source stand-mount up, with a 5.25 inch midrange and a 45 Hz lower limit.
