Violectric is a German brand of headphone amplifiers, preamplifiers and digital converters, launched in 2009 by Lake People electronic of Konstanz on Lake Constance. Lake People itself dates from 1986 and built its reputation on studio tools, starting with the Phone Amp V6, a stand-alone headphone amplifier for recording studios. Repeated requests from home listeners for that kind of equipment led the company to create Violectric as a separate label for the hi-fi market.
Range & what it's known for
The range is split into headphone preamps, line preamps, AD/DA converters, phono stages and accessories, and the company also distributes Mogami cables. Current models include the HPA V324 headphone amplifier, the DHA V590 2, a combined DAC and headphone amplifier designed as a complete listening station, and the PPA V790 phono preamplifier. Above them sits Niimbus, a separate high-end headphone amplifier series. The design rule carried over from studio work is summed up as tools, not toys, meaning practical functions and no decorative gimmicks.
Who owns it and where it's made
Violectric is the hi-fi arm of Lake People electronic GmbH, the company founded in 1986 by Fried Reim, who still shapes its technical direction. Development and assembly both stay in Germany, where the devices are built by hand in a small manufactory and each unit is tested before it ships. The professional studio products continue under the Lake People name, including the G103 headphone amplifier, the MC100 monitor controller and the F355 microphone preamplifier.
The lineup in this catalog
Headphone amplifiers and DACs, about USD 500 for the least costly unit and over USD 3,000 for the most costly.
Who it's for
Studio-derived headphone electronics made in Germany are the Violectric proposition. The HPA V324 is a natural starting point for a pure analogue amplifier, while the DHA V590 2 suits someone who wants the converter and amplifier in one box. Vinyl listeners can add the PPA V790, and the Niimbus series is where to go for the company's most ambitious headphone amplification.
