Pitt & Giblin is a small Australian loudspeaker workshop in Hobart, Tasmania, run by Jack Pitt and Ross Giblin. The pair have worked together for close to twenty years and build speakers in small batches, pairing their own acoustic designs with modern amplification and signal processing.

Range & what it's known for

The current range covers the Superwax and Superwax Mini active models, Flare, Livi, Tenet and Exhibition 30. The CAST, a collaboration with designer Tom Fereday first shown at Melbourne Design Week, is a 3-way active tower built from four marine-grade aluminium castings, with a 10-inch woofer, four 4-inch midrange drivers and a titanium compression driver in a large circular waveguide, driven by a Hypex FusionAmp module with DSP. Bronze waveguides are machined in-house.

Who owns it and where it's made

Ownership stays with the two founders. Every product is hand-assembled in Hobart, with cabinets of A-grade birch plywood in wood veneers, and the CAST castings are also produced locally in Hobart.

The lineup in this catalog

Bookshelf loudspeakers, represented by the CAST active model, listed by the maker at AUD 14,025 per unit including Australian GST.

Who it's for

Pitt & Giblin builds active speakers in a two-person workshop, a choice for buyers who weigh cabinet materials and finish as heavily as the electronics inside. The CAST is sold singly, so a system can start with one unit and grow to stereo or multi-channel, using its analogue and digital inputs.
