The case of the Shanling SONOS in-ear headphones is made of zinc alloy and finished using professional manual polishing technology. The earbuds are lightweight – each earphone weighs only 8.3 grams.
The Shanling CD80 II CD player is an evolution of the original CD80 player. The most significant change is the transition from the ESS DAC chip in the previous version to the Cirrus Logic CS43198 chip.
According to Shanling, the EC Zero AKM with an AKM AK4493S DAC and a pair of SGM8262-2 amplifiers (SG Micro Corp.) provides transparent, neutral sound and low output impedance. Due to this, it is also suitable for sensitive in-channel monitors. Hi-Res audio formats up to 32 bit/768 kHz for Linear PCM and up to DSD512 for DSD are supported. Through a 3.5mm stereo mini jack and a 4.4mm Pentaconn, headphones can be connected in unbalanced and balanced modes, respectively.
The Shanling EC3 impresses with its appearance and stuffing in a good way – the Philips CD80 top-loading drive and the Sanyo HD850 laser head are adjacent to the DAC ES9219C (32/384 and DSD256).
The Shanling SCD3.3 SACD player is based not only on 12AT7 lamps in the output stage, but also complements the analog path with two stages on operational amplifiers. The OPA1612 chip from Texas Instruments operates as a low-pass filter between the discrete R2R ladder of resistors and the amplifier section itself, providing the most transparent transition from the R2R DAC to the analog part.
