The RS151 is a network streamer from the Korean brand HiFi Rose that combines a music library player, a DAC with balanced and unbalanced analogue outputs and a large touchscreen in a precision-machined solid aluminium case. It supports native DSD512 and PCM up to 32 bit and 768 kHz, and it carries MQA certification.
Key specs that matter
An ESS SABRE ES9039PRO chip with fourth-generation Hyperstream technology performs the conversion, fed by a high-precision femto clock and the ROSE DPC module first developed for the RD160 DAC. The DPC locks the digital stream to that clock as an I2S signal and is isolated from the main CPU circuitry. Output level is 9.0 Vrms balanced and 4.5 Vrms unbalanced. Output impedance is 2.84 ohm, maximum dynamic range reaches 150 dB with a CCITT filter, and stereo crosstalk is at most -143 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Frequency response runs from 20 Hz to 75 kHz within plus or minus 0.5 dB. The case measures 430 x 319 x 125 mm, uses CNC-machined plates up to 30 mm thick and weighs 11 kg in either the black or the silver version. The UK list price is GBP 4,299.
Engineering and use context
Digital and analogue signal paths are kept separate, and the analogue stage uses a Noise Reduction Analog filter with MELF resistors and WIMA film capacitors. The main platform is an octa-core RK3588 CPU with an ARM Mali-G610 MC4 graphics unit and 8 GB of LPDDR4X memory. The system sits on 32 GB of eMMC storage, and music can be added on USB drives, MicroSD cards or a 2.5 inch SSD fitted inside. The front display is a 15.4 inch full HD IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1382. Networking relies on gigabit Ethernet, with Wi-Fi available through a USB dongle, and Bluetooth 5.4 supports aptX. Digital inputs cover optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, HDMI eARC and USB-B. Outputs include optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, I2S over HDMI, balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA, and an HDMI 2.0 video port handles up to 4K at 60 Hz, with H.265 video decoded at that resolution and rate. Both analogue outputs can be switched between variable and fixed level. A built-in toroidal linear power supply feeds the circuits. Streaming services named by HiFi Rose are Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz, plus internet radio, and the RS151 is Roon Ready and Audirvana certified. An IR remote comes with it.
Pairing
In variable mode the XLR sockets can run straight into a two-channel power amp, while in fixed mode the unbalanced RCA pair can go to an integrated amp. With the eARC input a television can pass its audio through the RS151, and the digital and I2S outputs allow an outboard DAC to take over conversion while the RS151 remains the library and streaming front end.

HiFi Rose also offers the RS150B network streamer.
