Accuphase of Japan built the DP-470 as a compact disc player that replaces the DP-450 and sits below the DP-570S in the disc player range. It is a Red Book CD machine rather than an SACD player, and it also works as a standalone digital-to-analogue converter. Release in Japan was set for late August 2026 at JPY 528,000 including tax, while buyers in the United States pay USD 9,999. The warranty in Japan runs for five years, and the package includes an RC-150 handset.
Key specs that matter
Measured at +0/-3 dB, the output covers 0.7 Hz to 50 kHz. Accuphase quotes THD+N of 0.0008%, a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, a dynamic range of 117 dB and channel separation of 114 dB. The USB Type-B input takes PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to 22.5 MHz with ASIO native transfer or 11.2 MHz via DoP. The coaxial input handles PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz and the optical input up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The chassis measures 465 x 151 x 393 mm, weighs 13.7 kg and draws 18 W.
Engineering and use context
The digital section relies on the ESS ES9026PRO 32-bit HyperStream II chip in the MDS+ layout of Accuphase, where four converter circuits operate side by side, cutting noise and distortion while improving linearity. New for this generation is ANCC, the noise and distortion cancelling circuit of the company, placed in the current-to-voltage conversion stage, where THD+N falls below 0.0002%. Compared with the DP-450 the filter circuit and capacitors were revised, and the tray gained an overhanging reinforcement plate. The transport has a rigid, low centre of gravity construction meant to isolate the optical pickup from vibration, with elastic damping between the mechanism and the loading assembly. Discs are held by an eight-pole neodymium magnetic clamp, the disc tray is milled out of a single aluminium billet, and a three-layer bridge structure suppresses chassis resonance. Mechanical damping continues in the feet, which are high-carbon cast iron, and its front panel follows the look of the DP-570S.
Pairing
Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs each have an independent Direct Balanced Filter circuit, and the balanced pair adds a phase selector. Output level can be adjusted from 0 dB down to -60 dB in 1 dB steps. A computer or network streamer can feed the internal converter over USB or coaxial. Coaxial and optical outputs deliver 16-bit/44.1 kHz data, letting the DP-470 spin discs for a separate outboard DAC.
Alternatives
The Accuphase DP-570S is the next disc player up the range, an SACD/CD model that shares the ANCC circuit technology.
