The D-100c, also written D-100 CENTENNIAL, is an SACD and CD player that doubles as a USB converter, made by Luxman of Japan. It belongs to the CENTENNIAL series that marks the company's hundredth year and takes over from the D-10X at the top of the Luxman disc player range. Deliveries were planned for the period between March and May 2026, and the US price is USD 18,995, with Australian pricing set at AUD 25,999.

Key specs that matter

Two ROHM BD34302EKV converter chips run in mono mode, one per channel. The transport reads two-channel SACD and CD. Over USB the player accepts PCM up to 768 kHz and 32 bit and DSD up to 22.5 MHz, while the coaxial and optical inputs take PCM up to 192 kHz. Output level is 2.4 V from the RCA sockets at 300 ohm and from the XLR sockets at 600 ohm, falling to 2.3 V with SACD and DSD material. For CD Luxman quotes 5 Hz to 20 kHz within +0 and -0.5 dB, distortion of 0.0016 % and 125 dB S/N. The chassis is 440 mm wide, 154 mm high and 420 mm deep, weighs 25.4 kg and draws 44 W.

Engineering and use context

The analogue stage uses LIFES 1.1, a circuit developed from the ODNF feedback topology that Luxman has applied for many years, here built fully balanced and driving both output pairs. The disc drive is the new LxDTM-i mechanism, which pairs an aluminium frame with a steel plate to damp vibration while the disc spins, and it is built into the main chassis with thick aluminium side frames, a steel top plate and an aluminium base. Timing comes from a large quartz oscillator with low phase noise circuitry. The power supply uses a CI-core transformer, separate rectification and regulation for the left and right channels, and a filter capacitor bank totalling 40,000 uF. A large monochrome OLED display replaces the fluorescent panels of earlier Luxman players, and the unit stands on cast-iron feet. Rear RCA terminals are Luxman's rigid type reserved for upper models, spaced at 22 mm to fit bulky cable plugs, and the XLR sockets are made by Neutrik. The RD-21 remote handset is supplied.

Pairing

Its fixed output level matches the high-level inputs of most preamplifiers and integrated models, and the balanced outputs make sense with Luxman's own L-100c integrated amplifier from the same anniversary series or with other designs that have XLR inputs. The USB port lets a computer or a network transport play high-resolution files through the same converters, so a separate streamer without its own DAC can be added later. Power can be taken from 230 V at 50 Hz or 115 V at 60 Hz depending on the market version.
