The SubSeries BP7 is a compact sealed subwoofer that PSB Speakers announced on 9 October 2025 at USD 1,199 and CAD 1,399. PSB, set up by Paul Barton in 1972 and now part of Lenbrook International, built the model around a bipolar layout in which two 6.5-inch woven carbon-fibre woofers face in opposite directions. The whole enclosure takes up less than 28 litres, and the company aims it at rooms where the subwoofer has to stay discreet.

Key specs that matter

Each of the two 152 mm drivers has a high-density rubber surround, a 38 mm voice coil, a 1,030 g magnet and a steel basket. Amplification comes from a 350 W continuous Class D stage by Texas Instruments, paired with digital signal processing on an Analog Devices chip. On axis the response is 30 Hz to 150 Hz within 3 dB, and the output reaches the 10 dB down point at 25 Hz. The box is 270 mm wide, 290 mm high and 270 mm deep. Net weight is 12 kg, or 13.6 kg with its packaging. Buyers can order satin black or satin white, each with polished aluminium trim.

Engineering and use context

Both woofers are set in opposition and move in alignment, and PSB states that this arrangement keeps cabinet vibration and distortion low. The enclosure is fully sealed, so there is no port to produce air noise or resonances at high excursion. The power supply accepts any mains voltage from 100 V to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, which lets the same unit ship to every market. An automatic standby circuit cuts consumption to 0.5 W when no signal is present, and a front LED glows red in standby and green when the amplifier is active. A 12 V trigger input is also fitted, and the mains circuit is protected by a T10AL 250 V fuse.

Pairing

Gold-plated stereo RCA sockets accept both low-level signals from a preamplifier or receiver subwoofer output and high-level signals. The variable crossover serves stereo speakers, and an LFE position at 350 Hz hands filtering over to the bass management of an AV receiver. A phase switch offers 0 and 180 degrees, and a bass level control sets output against the main speakers. The trigger lets an amplifier or receiver with a trigger output bring the BP7 out of standby.

Alternatives

The PSB SubSeries 350 is an older sealed model that uses a single 12-inch polypropylene woofer and a 300 W continuous amplifier.
