The Elipson SUB 15 is one of three active subwoofers in the range this French company presented in September 2025 as the successor to its Prestige Facet subwoofers. The maker calls it the top model of the new series, aimed at large rooms, high-end systems and home cinema installations. It is designed in the Val-de-Marne area of France, carries a two-year manufacturer warranty and was priced at EUR 1,399, or GBP 1,299 in the UK.

Key specs that matter

A 380 mm driver with a fibreglass cone is driven by a 650 W class D amplifier. Rated response runs from 19 Hz to 200 Hz within 3 dB. The cabinet measures 55.2 cm high, 46.5 cm wide and 53.4 cm deep and weighs 41 kg, finished in deep matte black. Connections comprise one LFE input, one stereo line-level input and one stereo line-level output for passing the signal on to another device.

Engineering and use context

Elipson built a vented design with the vent on the front, and the grille and feet are included in the quoted dimensions. Inside the port sits a laminar chicane, an acoustic guide that Elipson says stabilises airflow and reduces turbulence and compression at high levels. With the port on the baffle, the box tolerates placement near the wall behind it. A DSP stage adds a boost of 3 dB centred on 26 Hz to reinforce the lowest octave, and a subsonic filter engages at 21 Hz to keep the driver from moving excessively on content below its working range. The low-pass cutoff can be set anywhere from 30 Hz to 200 Hz, the phase switches between 0 and 180 degrees, and an automatic standby function puts the amplifier to sleep during silence and restarts it once music or film audio resumes. The three models share this port concept, control set and fibreglass cone material, and the SUB 15 differs from its siblings by the largest cone, the most amplifier power and the deepest rated extension.

Pairing

For surround use the LFE socket accepts the dedicated bass feed from a surround receiver or processor, while in a two-channel system the stereo line input accepts a preamplifier output and the line output hands the signal on to a separate stereo power stage. The heavy cabinet and the large footprint call for a solid floor position planned before delivery, and the size points toward spacious rooms rather than a compact 20 m2 living area.

The Elipson SUB 12 uses a 300 mm driver with 500 W and reaches 22 Hz in a smaller 27 kg cabinet.
