The MilleniaSub is a powered subwoofer from Paradigm Electronics, designed as a sealed box with two drivers in a vibration-cancelling arrangement and a built-in Ultra-Class-D amplifier. Paradigm lists it at USD 1,699.99 each in Satin Black or White. Its flat shape allows it to lie horizontally on feet or stand vertically on a stand.

Key specs that matter

Paradigm gives a response of 24 Hz to 150 Hz within plus or minus 3 dB, and low frequency extension reaches 21 Hz by the DIN method. The two drivers are 355 mm by 76 mm oval units with reinforced polymer cones, corrugated Santoprene surrounds and 25 mm voice coils. Lying flat on its feet, the enclosure measures 140 mm high, 467 mm wide and 356 mm deep, and upright on its stand it measures 381 mm high, 222 mm wide and 467 mm deep. It weighs 10.9 kg.

Engineering and use context

The woofers sit back to back in a bipolar layout, firing in opposite directions, and Paradigm describes the arrangement as inherently vibration cancelling, reducing resonance and distortion in any orientation. Paradigm says it works in partnership with Canada's NRC on ongoing research into sound and human hearing, and that the findings inform its design and performance specifications. The amplifier includes auto-on, soft clipping and thermal monitoring. A variable low-pass filter starts at 35 Hz and can be bypassed when bass management is handled by a receiver or processor, and phase can be adjusted continuously from 0 to 180 degrees to align the sub with the satellite speakers. A USB port is provided for PBK equalization. Paradigm also specifies a wireless link in the 2.4 GHz band with 15, 20 or 25 ms selectable latency, a range of 15 m and a 48 kHz, 16 bit sampling rate, and one transmitter can serve up to four subwoofers. Paradigm sells wireless modules for select subwoofers as separate accessories.

Pairing

The input accepts an RCA sub-out or LFE-out from a receiver, processor or other line-level source, with an input impedance of 10 kilohms on RCA and 20 kilohms on XLR. That makes the MilleniaSub suitable for AV receivers and stereo preamplifiers with a subwoofer output, and the wireless option lets it sit away from the electronics without a long signal cable.
