The Kube 10 MIE is the 10-inch model in KEF's Kube MIE subwoofer family, which launched in February 2024 in four sizes of 8, 10, 12 and 15 inches. Its US launch price was USD 799.99, placing it between the Kube 8 MIE and the Kube 12 MIE. The range succeeded the earlier Kube subwoofers and added KEF's Music Integrity Engine DSP, tuned separately for each size.
Key specs that matter
One 250 mm (10-inch) long-throw driver fires forward from a sealed enclosure and is powered by a 300 W RMS Class D amplifier. KEF rates the response at 24 Hz to 140 Hz within ±3 dB and the maximum output at 111 dB. A low-pass control covers 40 Hz to 140 Hz at 24 dB per octave, and its LFE position leaves filtering to an AV processor, while phase can be set to 0 or 180 degrees. The rear panel carries RCA sockets for line and LFE signals, speaker-level terminals, a 12 V trigger and an expansion port for the KW1 wireless kit. There is no line output. The cabinet stands 370 mm high, 353 mm wide and 370 mm deep with feet and rear panel, and its weight is 15.4 kg. It runs on 100 to 240 V, consumes up to 300 VA and comes in black.
Engineering and use context
With no port, the sealed box avoids port noise and rolls off more gently below its resonance than a vented design. KEF says this lets the Kube be placed near a wall, in a corner, or built into a wall or cabinet. The long-throw driver provides the excursion a 10-inch cone needs to reach the rated level without a bigger enclosure. Within the MIE processing, iBX Intelligent Bass Extension analyses the signal in real time and adjusts the output so the subwoofer can play louder while retaining low bass at every volume setting. Class D amplification keeps heat low for a 300 W output stage in a compact box. SmartConnect recognises whether one or two RCA leads are attached and sets the gain itself, which removes the need for a Y-adapter. A mode switch selects auto wake-up, which drops into standby after 20 minutes without signal, always on, or 12 V trigger control.
Pairing
For home cinema use, a receiver sub pre-out goes to the LFE input with the filter set to LFE. A stereo amplifier without a subwoofer output can drive the speaker-level input, and the 40 to 140 Hz filter then meets the bass limit of the main speakers. With KEF W2 platform wireless models, the sub runs in LFE mode and the crossover lives in the KEF Connect app. The KW1 kit removes the cable run.
Alternatives
The KEF Kube 12 MIE moves to a 300 mm driver on the same 300 W amplifier and extends to 22 Hz with 114 dB maximum output.
