Сабвуферы — Kharma Exquisite Midi Subwoofer

The Exquisite Midi Subwoofer is the powered low-frequency companion in the Kharma Exquisite collection, a series that also includes the Galileo, Classique, Midi 3.0, Midi Grand 3.0, Grand 3.0 and Extreme Grand 3.0 loudspeakers and the MP1000 amplifier. The type code is EXQ-MD-SB-1.1-A, and a later revision is coded EXQ-MD-SB-2.0-A. Trim parts on the sides and a ring around the woofer are shaped to match the other Exquisite models, and the European price is EUR 35,000.

Key specs that matter

Its 15-inch High Modulus Sandwich Kharma Composite driver was designed entirely by the company and uses a carbon-look cone of fibre derived from Formula 1 materials. The 2.0 revision is rated at 400 W RMS of internal power, a range of 20 Hz to 200 Hz and a maximum of 119 dB SPL. The enclosure measures 561 mm high, 559 mm wide and 849 mm deep, and the later revision including its base is 590 mm by 590 mm by 910 mm. The mains fuse is a 4 A slow-blow type, and the unit runs on 115 V or 230 V depending on how it was configured at the factory.

Engineering and use context

Kharma builds the cabinet from a very dense material and dresses it with Macassar wood parts. Aubergine and piano black, each with Macassar, are the standard colours, and other paints and veneers can be ordered. Processing is handled by an internal DSP working in mixed-mode 64 bits with 600 microseconds of latency. It offers high-pass and low-pass filters, phase control and five parametric EQ points, with five factory presets and room for up to 40 custom settings. Control runs through the Kharma Control app on an iPad with at least iOS 8.2, linked over the Ethernet socket. A small switch on the back decides the signal path - to the left the direct input bypasses the DSP, to the right the two channel inputs go through it and are summed. The IEC inlet is fitted with a gold-plated copper isolator that can be removed when a thick power cord does not fit. Delivery includes a power cord, four spike discs, four felt pads, a burn-in CD, a registration form, a quality certificate and a certificate of authenticity.

Pairing

The rear panel carries two balanced XLR stereo inputs at 10 kOhm and one balanced XLR direct input at 110 kOhm, so the sub can take left and right preamplifier outputs or a mono feed that has already been filtered elsewhere. Kharma advises its own Exquisite interconnects for the link and names the Enigma Veyron cable series as a further option.

Alternatives

The Kharma Elegance Subwoofer is the smaller active model with a 10-inch aluminium woofer and 180 W RMS.
