The Titan is described by YG Acoustics as its most ambitious loudspeaker to date. It grew out of Project Gemini, a three-year research programme, was first shown under that codename at HIGH END Munich 2025, and was officially announced on 20 May 2025. Buyers choose between three versions - a fully passive five-way Titan Passive, a Titan Active Sub that combines a passive four-way array with an external 1 kW amplifier for the lowest driver, and a fully active Titan Live. Base pricing is around USD 650,000, climbing towards USD 1 million for fully specified systems.

Key specs that matter

Each tower holds eight drive units. A symmetrical seven-driver array uses a Lattice hybrid tweeter on an advanced airframe, two 15 cm midrange cones, two 18.5 cm midbass cones and two 26 cm bass cones, all of YG's own aluminium cone construction, and below them sits a 32 cm sub-bass unit with an ultra-high field strength motor. The passive version divides the band at 35 Hz, 90 Hz, 360 Hz and 1.85 kHz. YG quotes output from below 20 Hz to 40 kHz, 88 dB sensitivity and an impedance averaging 4 ohm with a 2.4 ohm minimum. A tower measures 215 x 54 x 108 cm and weighs 455 kg unpacked.

Engineering and use context

The cabinet has five layers, three of them special aluminium alloys, each separated from the next by a precision-engineered damping layer, and the faceplates are machined from solid aerospace-grade aluminium 75 mm thick. The symmetrical arrangement of drivers around the tweeter is intended to behave as a point source and to widen the area in which a listener can sit. In the passive build the crossover sits in an external enclosure and uses parts optimised individually for each pair, among them pure metal foil and silver-gold alloy capacitors, foil resistors and inductors damped against resonance. The Titan Live instead drives every unit from its own amplifier, with eight 700 W amplifiers per tower, a DSP crossover and Roon Ready streaming built in, so no separate power amplifiers are needed. CEO Matthew Webster presented the project as an internal push to advance the company's simulation tools and manufacturing precision.

Pairing

For the passive version the low minimum impedance calls for high-current power amplifiers that stay stable into 2 ohm loads. The Active Sub version reduces that burden because the sub-bass driver has its own amplifier. Floor loading and access for a tower weighing close to half a tonne need to be confirmed before installation.

Alternatives

The YG Acoustics Sonja 3.3 is a smaller three-way tower from the Reference range, priced at USD 146,800 per pair.
