TIDAL for BUGATTI is a powered floorstanding loudspeaker created jointly by TIDAL, the German loudspeaker maker, and the French car manufacturer Bugatti. The partnership was announced in late 2020, and the TIDAL side of the project was led by founder and CEO Jörn Janczak. The speaker is sold under the Royale name in two cabinet versions, Royale Monocoque and Royale Duotone, with launch prices of EUR 260,000 and EUR 282,000 respectively. Two limited runs, Edition Noir and Edition Blanc, were each restricted to 15 pairs. In the United States the speakers were quoted from USD 318,000 up to USD 616,000 depending on the options chosen, and the design takes its cue from the Bugatti Type 41 Royale.

Key specs that matter

This is a 4-way hybrid-active multichannel design with eight drivers per enclosure. A 30 mm high-efficiency diamond tweeter sits above a 127 mm ceramic midrange, and buyers can upgrade that position to a 127 mm diamond midrange-woofer. Two 170 mm front woofers with aluminium diaphragms follow, and the low end is handled by four 265 mm long-throw subwoofer drivers, also with aluminium diaphragms and with impulse compensation. Each unit measures 144 cm in height, 28 cm in width and 60 cm in depth, and weighs 160 kg without packaging. Signal and control arrive through LAN and XLR inputs next to the mains socket.

Engineering and use context

Both versions use TIRALIT, a proprietary polymer cabinet material from TIDAL. The Monocoque enclosure is a 3D-shaped multi-chamber shell, while the Duotone variant is built as a dual shell. Amplification sits inside the speaker, so no external power amplifier is part of the chain, and the owner can adjust bass level, a placement setting and the power mode. The exterior can be specified in carbon fibre, leather, fabrics, polished stainless steel, dark aluminium or precious metals, and bespoke orders can match the colour combinations of Bugatti vehicles. A Bugatti logo plaque is fixed to the front, and the rear panel carries the TIDAL for BUGATTI name. TIDAL has not published an amplifier power rating or a frequency response figure for this model.

The companion component offered for the system is the ROYALE MC-1, a streaming DAC and control unit that links streaming services and a television to the speakers, listed at EUR 48,000.
