The Piano Classic is a passive 2.5-way floorstanding speaker that TIDAL announced on 26 May 2026 and made available to order at once. The company presents it as a reinterpretation of its very first loudspeaker from 1999, the year Jörn Janczak founded TIDAL Audio GmbH, and it now forms the entry point to the current TIDAL range. In the United States it lists at USD 31,990 per pair in Midnight Black, the only finish named at launch.

Key specs that matter

Three drivers are used per cabinet. A 30 mm tweeter with a black ceramic dome sits above two 170 mm units with black crystalid cones, one working as mid-woofer and the other as woofer. The cabinet is 117 cm tall, 24 cm wide and 36 cm deep, and it reaches 121 cm from floor to top when the vario feet are fitted. Each speaker weighs 52 kg without packaging. For transport a pair travels either on an EU pallet at 220 kg in total or in two OSB cases of 98 kg each.

Engineering and use context

Waterproof HDF forms the multi-chamber enclosure, and it is coated in the original TIDAL piano lacquer. The tweeter is mechanically decoupled from the cabinet, held in a stainless steel mounting behind a velvet-coated aluminium faceplate, and aluminium clamping parts retain the other drivers, while stainless steel and aluminium structures brace the cabinet from inside. The passive uno-pulse crossover weighs 13 kg on its own and uses ultra-low tolerance parts - Supreme capacitors, Supreme resistors and low-resistance air-core inductors. It is housed in a separate chamber that is sealed hermetically and isolated from microphonic effects. Stainless steel isolators are supplied with the speaker. The TIDAL Varioterminal on the rear lets the owner choose between three configurations - pure 2-way for small rooms, linear 2.5-way for medium rooms, and gained 2.5-way for large rooms or when more bass output is wanted. TIDAL also points to the design's ability to reproduce music well at low listening levels.

Pairing

Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, and TIDAL states that the lowest point of the impedance curve is 3.2 ohm. Power handling is given as 150/300 VA nominal. The company recommends an amplifier with at least 30 W of output to drive the Piano Classic.

Alternatives

The TIDAL Piano G3 shares the same height on its feet but weighs 70 kg and replaces the ceramic tweeter with a diamond unit above two black ceramic mid-woofers.
