The Pledge is a true three-way column in the Heritage line from Davis Acoustics, founded in 1986 and building its speakers in Troyes, France. The Heritage series brings together techniques the brand has developed since its creation. The Pledge joins The Stage, whose 25 cm woofer replaced the 21 cm unit of the earlier Davis Nikita, and The Wall, sitting between them with three drivers against two in The Stage and four in The Wall. Davis developed it as a slimmer column in answer to requests for a more compact model in the Heritage range. The price is EUR 5,000 per pair, and the speaker was scheduled for audition at the PAVS show in Paris in late October 2025.
Key specs that matter
All drivers are made by Davis. The line-up is a 20 mm cone tweeter with stiffening ribs and a central phase plug, the 13 cm Kevlar midrange that has long been a Davis signature, and a 17 cm cellulose pulp woofer. Crossover points are 400 Hz and 4,000 Hz. A circular reflex port sits high on the rear panel. Davis quotes a response of 40 Hz to 30,000 Hz within 3 dB. Power handling is 110 W nominal and 150 W maximum. Each speaker is 100 cm high, 20.5 cm wide and 30.5 cm deep, and weighs 30 kg.
Engineering and use context
The styling is neo-vintage and minimalist, with no visible logos. The upper part of the cabinet has an embossed matte black paint finish, while the lower part is finished in light oak or dark walnut veneer. A diagonal line separating the two areas on the side panels is the visual signature of the Heritage series, and The Pledge keeps the inclined side panel for that reason even in its narrower form. The black fabric grille continues the same diagonal line across the front. A black version is also listed among the finishes. The woofer has a new structure with a large diameter voice coil, and the parallel-sided cabinet is made of thick MDF. A single pair of terminals is fitted, without bi-wiring, and internal wiring uses three sections of graded diameter from HiFi Cable & Cie.
Pairing
Davis sells a pair of dedicated feet for the model as an option at EUR 600, and it recommends staying within the stated maximum power. Davis also presents The Pledge as a step up for current owners of its Courbet 4 column.
Alternatives
The Davis Acoustics The Wall is the four-driver column of the same Heritage collection, sharing its two-tone cabinet with the diagonal side line.
