The Synchrony T600 is a three-way tower in PSB's Synchrony series, the top line that the brand launched in 2021 and later extended upward with the larger T800. PSB has been led by its founder and chief designer Paul Barton since 1972 and now belongs to Lenbrook International. Its development ran through the NRC anechoic chamber, and the T600 introduced a new driver platform together with built-in IsoAcoustics isolation feet.

Key specs that matter

The driver set combines a ferrofluid-cooled 25 mm titanium dome with a neodymium motor, a 133 mm (5.25 in) midrange and three 165 mm (6.5 in) woofers, all cones in woven carbon fibre on cast aluminium baskets with rubber surrounds. The midrange-to-tweeter crossover is at 1.8 kHz. Response runs from 24 Hz to 23 kHz, sensitivity is 89 dB, impedance is 4 ohms, and PSB allows 20 W to 300 W of amplification. The cabinet measures 228 x 1048 x 343 mm and weighs 34.9 kg.

Engineering and use context

The five-way transitional array is the key idea of this tower. The lower woofers roll off at progressively lower frequencies, so bass output is spread along the cabinet height and the floor reflection is randomised rather than concentrated at one frequency. Each woofer has its own tuned chamber and rear-firing port, and rubber plugs are supplied to seal one or both ports. The new driver platform combines four distortion-reducing measures, a Faraday ring, a shorted turn, a longer voice coil and a symmetrical magnetic drive, which lower non-linear distortion at high levels. The crossover uses Linkwitz-Riley fourth-order acoustic slopes, high-voltage polyfilm capacitors and oxygen-free wiring. The MDF cabinet has more internal bracing than any previous PSB speaker, and its front baffle is clad in a 5 mm solid aluminium plate decoupled by ten isolation cups to suppress baffle vibration. Outrigger stabilisers carry integrated IsoAcoustics GAIA II isolators. Three pairs of terminals allow tri-wiring, and the cabinet comes in satin walnut veneer and high gloss black with magnetic grilles.

Pairing

Good sensitivity keeps power demands moderate, yet the low impedance favours amplifiers with solid current delivery. The port plugs help when the towers must stand close to a wall. For home cinema, the Synchrony B600 bookshelf model shares its tweeter and works as a surround, and the Synchrony C600 centre completes the front stage. The IsoAcoustics feet decouple the tower from wooden floors, which otherwise pass cabinet vibration into the room structure.
