The Sopran 934 is a three-way, four-driver floorstanding loudspeaker from Morel, the Israeli driver and loudspeaker maker, and the larger of the two floorstanders in the Sopran series, which also includes the Sopran 634 tower and the Sopran 622 bookshelf model. Its curved cabinet design is inspired by the Morel Fat Lady. US pricing is USD 14,999 per pair in white or black and USD 16,999 in walnut or wenge.

Engineering and use context

Two 223 mm (nominal 8 inch) woofers with paper and carbon cellular cones and oversized titanium voice coils cover the bass. The midrange is a 166 mm carbon fibre sandwich unit with a neodymium double-magnet motor and a 3 inch aluminium voice coil. Treble comes from a 28 mm soft-dome tweeter, also neodymium-driven, whose voice coil combines titanium and aluminium. Morel builds these drivers itself. The crossover is hand-finished with Mundorf components. Ports are CNC precision-cut and the reflex enclosure is braced internally, with the overall form of a gently curving wedge. Four standard finishes are offered - white, black, walnut and wenge - with the walnut version pairing a walnut front and a matte black rear, and custom colours can be ordered to special request.

Any amplifier chosen should be rated into 4 ohm loads, while its generous power rating suits large solid-state designs too. Both woofers work together in the lowest band, the midrange handles the span between the two crossover points, and the tweeter takes over above that.
