The Sopran 634 is a passive tower speaker with three ways from Morel, the Israeli driver and speaker maker, and its public debut took place at AXPONA 2025. Morel describes it as an evolution of its earlier Fat Lady speaker and places it in the Sopran series. At launch the price ran from USD 10,999 to USD 12,999 per pair, the figure varying with finish, and a later price was USD 13,998 per pair.

Behind the front baffle sit five drivers. Three 6 inch woofers handle the bass, a separate 6 inch unit covers the midrange and a 1.1 inch dome sits at the top. The crossover points are 250 Hz and 2,200 Hz. Morel quotes a response of 45 Hz to 18,000 Hz within 1.5 dB, a nominal impedance of 4 ohm and a maximum power rating of 250 W. Sensitivity is 89 dB. The ported enclosure measures 24 cm wide, 122 cm tall and 36 cm deep, with a mass close to 31 kg per cabinet.

Engineering and use context

Morel builds these drivers in house, as driver making is the core of its business. Cones use carbon fiber composite sandwich diaphragms chosen for rigidity, and each driver has an oversized titanium voice coil in a neodymium magnet structure. Morel states that these motors are meant to keep distortion very low even at reference playback levels. The cabinet is CNC machined with precision porting, and internal bracing is used to suppress panel resonance. Splitting the bass among three woofers keeps the front baffle narrow while still giving a large total cone area in the bass. Finishes include high gloss paint and natural wood veneer, and Morel also offers custom colours on request. The company positions the speaker for vinyl, high resolution streaming and multichannel playback alike.

Pairing

The low impedance with three woofers in parallel duty needs transistor amplification with stability into low loads and generous current. The power ceiling leaves room for powerful stereo amplifiers or monoblocks, while the sensitivity figure means that moderate power already reaches ordinary playback levels in about 20 m2. Owners with a separate front end can also use the speaker in a multichannel system, since Morel names multichannel formats among its intended uses.
