The SabrinaX is a three-way tower speaker designed and built by Wilson Audio in Provo, Utah. It was released in 2020 and retired in 2025, when it was followed by the Sabrina V. It was the compact entry to the brand's floorstanding line during its production years.
Key specs that matter
Wilson pairs an 8 inch (20.32 cm) paper pulp woofer, a 5.75 inch (14.61 cm) doped paper pulp midrange and a 1 inch (2.54 cm) doped silk fabric dome tweeter, all loaded by a cabinet ported at the back. Wilson specifies a frequency response of 31 Hz to 23 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, measured as a room average response, and a sensitivity of 87 dB at 1 W, 1 m and 1 kHz. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, with a minimum of 2.60 ohm at 135 Hz. The minimum recommended amplifier power is 50 W per channel. The cabinet is 96.46 cm tall, or 102.34 cm on its spikes, 30.48 cm wide and 38.96 cm deep. Each channel weighs 50.80 kg, and the approximate shipping weight is 131.54 kg.
Engineering and use context
The SabrinaX uses the same Wilson-designed and Wilson-made binding post as the Chronosonic XVX. It can be tightened by hand and also accepts banana plugs, and it sits at the bottom rear of the cabinet. Four spike assemblies thread into an X-Material plate on the underside, each made of a diode, a spike, an all-thread post and a locking nut. Under a removable X-Material cover on the bottom lies the resistor strip. The midrange level is set by two 4.2 ohm resistors in parallel and the tweeter level by two 7.9 ohm resistors in parallel. These parts provide level matching for the upper drivers and also act as fuses that open before a driver can be damaged by excess power. A separate woofer damping resistor, marked Q, governs how the woofer couples to the amplifier. Wilson fits it before shipping and advises owners to leave it alone. Only Wilson replacement resistors may be fitted, since a different value or brand voids the warranty. The supplied tool kit includes a 3/4 inch wrench for locking the spike nuts and a 1/2 inch nut driver for the binding posts. The crossover is reached through the same bottom access panel. The owner's manual includes a phase curve and an impedance curve for the model.
Pairing
The modest minimum power rating and the low minimum impedance favour an amplifier that stays composed and delivers steady current into difficult loads.
Alternatives
Wilson Audio's Sabrina V is the successor floorstander that builds on the SabrinaX design.
