The Sabrina V is the most compact tower in today's Wilson Audio catalogue, made in Provo, Utah, and a redesign of the Sabrina line that follows the SabrinaX. It carries over driver and material technology from the brand's larger models into a compact three-way cabinet.

Key specs that matter

A 1 inch (2.54 cm) doped silk fabric tweeter in a sealed enclosure, a 7 inch (17.78 cm) paper pulp composite midrange and an 8 inch (20.32 cm) paper pulp woofer make up the driver set. The woofer and midrange enclosures are both ported at the rear. Wilson rates the response at 27 Hz to 24 kHz (plus or minus 3 dB, room average response), with sensitivity at 87 dB at 1 W, 1 m and 1 kHz. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, with a minimum of 2.23 ohm at 121 Hz, and amplification should supply no less than 50 W per channel. Without spikes the cabinet measures 98.98 cm high, 30.48 cm wide and 39.07 cm deep, and one speaker weighs 55.79 kg. The approximate shipping weight is 140.61 kg.

Engineering and use context

The Sabrina V introduces H-Material, a high-density composite with organic and phenolic properties used for the front baffle. Wilson describes it as similar to X-Material in stiffness but slightly softer and of different construction, while the SabrinaX used X-Material as its baffle substrate. The rest of the cabinet combines X, V and H-Materials. The CSC tweeter was first developed for the Alexx V. The midrange is the AlNiCo QuadraMag unit created for the Chronosonic XVX and also fitted to the Alexx V, Alexia V, Sasha V and The WATT/Puppy, and the woofer is shared with the Sasha V and The WATT/Puppy. The rear bass port dimensions and the midrange vent geometry were revised. In the crossover, a copper version of the AudioCapX-WA capacitor, first seen in the Sasha V, gains a copper end-spray, and a new woofer capacitor follows the construction of the brand's midrange capacitors. Tweeter and midrange resistors now sit on the rear panel under tool-less thumbscrews, inside a machined aluminum frame, instead of at the bottom as before. V-Material is nested into the base where the spike diodes meet the cabinet, a scheme Wilson calls V-MCD, and the spike thread size allows a direct move to Wilson Acoustic Diodes.

The low impedance minimum and moderate efficiency favor a solid-state amplifier that delivers current comfortably into 2 ohm loads.
