The Parker Trio is a 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker from the Swedish manufacturer Marten, introduced when the Parker series launched in May 2020 and placed by the company in the middle of its range. It is the tower model of the Parker line, and a Diamond Edition exists alongside the standard version with a different tweeter and upgraded internal parts. US pricing for the standard pair is USD 23,995 in Matte Walnut or Piano Black and USD 24,995 in Piano Walnut.

Key specs that matter

The standard speaker uses a 1 inch pure ceramic tweeter, two 7.5 inch ceramic bass and midrange drivers and two 9 inch aluminium passive radiators mounted on the rear. The crossover point is 2,200 Hz. Marten quotes a frequency range of 26 Hz to 40,000 Hz within 2 dB, sensitivity of 91 dB at 2.83 V and a nominal 6 ohm load with a minimum of 3.1 ohm. Rated power is 300 W. The cabinet is 117 cm tall and 36 cm deep, with a width that tapers between 22 and 28 cm, and the net weight is 40 kg per speaker.

Engineering and use context

In the 2.5-way arrangement the two bass and midrange cones share the low frequencies, and just one of them runs on to meet the tweeter, which lets the design keep a large bass area without doubling the midrange source. The passive radiators take the role of a port, so no air opening is used for bass loading and the two rear diaphragms add low frequency output. The crossover follows what Marten calls a multi-diverse order and uses polypropylene capacitors and copper foil inductors. Walls are 35 mm M-board, a multi-layer material chosen to reduce cabinet resonance, and the narrow front and wider rear shape the enclosure. Inside, hand-built Jorma wiring shields the positive and negative leads separately. Every cabinet rests on a polished steel base fitted with Marten Isolators, and WBT Nextgen terminals are fitted for single wiring. Finishes are Piano Walnut, Matte Walnut, Piano Black and Piano White. The Diamond Edition replaces the ceramic dome with a diamond tweeter and adds better crossover components, improved terminals and Jorma Statement internal cables.

Pairing

Thanks to its efficiency, amplifiers of moderate power can drive the Parker Trio to high levels, although the low impedance minimum favours designs that remain stable into low impedance. With only one pair of terminals the speaker is wired with a single cable per side, and there is no bi-amping option.
