The Mino is the smaller of the two floorstanding models from Vimberg, the German brand that Tidal Audio founded in 2018, and the maker pitches it as full-range reproduction from modest dimensions. It sits between the stand-mounted Amea and the bigger Tonda. The pair price is USD 31,000, or EUR 34,500 in Europe, and a diamond tweeter upgrade adds USD 8,500 per pair.
Key specs that matter
Five drivers, all taken from Accuton's standard stock rather than made to order, form a three-way layout. A 30 mm ceramic tweeter handles the top, a 90 mm ceramic midrange with a hard, light diaphragm covers the middle band, and three 168 mm woofers with 3D-shaped aluminium honeycomb sandwich diaphragms take the bass. Frequency response is 36 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB, with output 6 dB down at 25 Hz. Each speaker stands 1280 mm tall on its base and measures 424 mm wide and 534 mm deep. It weighs 72 kg unpacked and 83 kg in a carton measuring 40 x 155 x 60 cm. In the UK the price runs from GBP 29,800 in black or white Velvetec to GBP 31,800 in lacquer. Fitting the diamond tweeter turns the model into the Mino D.
Engineering and use context
Below the midrange, the triple woofer array is loaded by dual-tune bass reflex ports, a layout Vimberg chose to keep port noise to a minimum. The cabinet is built from waterproof high-density fibre laminate with reinforcing aluminium elements. The crossover uses Vimberg's monopulse topology with Mundorf and Duelund components, and the signal runs through Mogami high-end coaxial cable from Argento binding posts. The speaker rests on an isolation stand with a milled aluminium footer and a five-part system of Teflon gliders, and its brackets and height-adjustable feet are glass-bead blasted anodised aluminium instead of the polished stainless steel used by Tidal. The bass reflex port comes with a removable plug. Its Velvetec surface is a textured matte coat with ceramic beads, applied by automated machinery at roughly half the thickness of the hand-sprayed finish on Tidal speakers, and custom colours or white and black piano lacquer can be requested. A brass or copper front plate is another option.
Pairing
Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, with a minimum of 3.8 ohm at 100 Hz. Sensitivity is 89 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m at 1 kHz, three decibels higher than the Amea.
Alternatives
The Vimberg Tonda is the bigger floorstanding sibling, pairing a larger ceramic midrange with three 190 mm honeycomb woofers.
