The Divin Majestic is a loudspeaker in the Divin series from German maker Göbel High End, and the smaller Divin Monarque was later introduced as a scaled interpretation of it for installations where a speaker of this bulk cannot be placed. It is a three-way, high-sensitivity floorstander built around five drivers and a heavy composite and aluminium cabinet.
Key specs that matter
Two proprietary 18-inch long-throw bass chassis handle the low end, two proprietary 8-inch midrange chassis cover the middle band, and a significantly improved AMT tweeter sits in a massive aluminium waveguide. The crossover points are 120 Hz and 1,600 Hz. Göbel quotes 21 Hz to 24,000 Hz at -3 dB, an efficiency of 98 dB at 1 W and 1 m, and a nominal impedance of 4 ohm with a minimum of 3.3 ohm at 100 Hz. Each speaker measures 226 cm in height, 79 cm in width and 114 cm in depth, weighs 530 kg on its own and 890 kg inside its flight case.
Engineering and use context
Göbel builds the enclosure as a symmetrical bass reflex design. Its walls combine constrained-layer damping with resin-bonded composite board suited to tropical climates and a specific aluminium alloy, reaching up to 110 mm in thickness, and the sandwich structure uses kinetic mass dampening methods against panel resonances. The bass drivers use optimised motor systems, very low-loss spiders and gaskets, and light glass fibre and paper membranes. The midrange units rely on the company's patented bending wave technology to manage membrane resonances in a controlled way. The tweeter waveguide follows a Tractrix-adapted curve so that its dispersion blends coherently with the drivers below it. Cabinets come as standard in piano black lacquer, with aluminium parts in black ultra-matt soft-touch coating and highlights in real 24 carat gold leaf, and custom finishes can be ordered on request. Given the shipping weight, delivery and placement need planning with a proper handling crew and a floor strong enough to carry it.
Pairing
Thanks to the high efficiency, modest amplifier power reaches high levels, so low-output valve or class A designs are practical partners. The impedance dip in the bass region still points to a partner that remains stable at low load and delivers current without strain when both large woofers are working together.
Alternatives
The Göbel Divin Monarque is the smaller three-way floorstander derived from this design, using two 15-inch woofers in a 194 cm tall cabinet weighing 380 kg.
