The Celan Revolution 9 is a HECO floorstanding loudspeaker using a three-way bass reflex layout with a double bass configuration. It belongs to the Celan Revolution range, which HECO describes as the fourth generation of its Celan line and the successor to the Celan GT series, alongside the Celan Revolution 3 bookshelf model and the Celan Revolution Center 4. The redesign introduced the angled top, rounded side panels and aluminium base crossbars seen on this model, which is offered in glossy lacquer, semi-matte lacquer or selected real wood veneer finishes.
Key specs that matter
Two 200 mm woofers and a 170 mm midrange driver use HECO kraft paper cones, and a second-generation High Energy tweeter carries a 30 mm polyfiber compound dome. The crossover divides the signal at 230 Hz and 2,800 Hz. The stated frequency range spans 19 Hz to 52,000 Hz, with a sensitivity of 93 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and an impedance of 4 to 8 ohm. Power handling is 280 W RMS and 450 W maximum, and suitable amplifiers span 30 to 450 W. Including feet and terminals, each speaker stands 1272 mm tall, 374 mm wide and 440 mm deep, with a weight of 38.4 kg.
Engineering and use context
Each woofer is tuned for low frequencies, with a large dust cap, a long-throw surround and a 32 mm high-performance voice coil. The midrange uses a newly developed POC phase optimisation dust cap, a coated fabric surround and a 25 mm voice coil. The tweeter is driven by a powerful double ferrite magnet system and sits behind a computer-optimised, multi-corrugated front plate with Fluktus geometry. Its level can be switched between linear and plus 2 dB, and the crossover is built from tight-tolerance components. The MDF enclosure is braced with internal struts and vents through two airflow-optimised reflex tubes screwed in place with aluminium flanges. Solid aluminium cross beams under the cabinet give a broad base and hold height-adjustable metal cone spikes whose tips can be metal or rubber. A doubled set of gold-plated, capsulated screw connectors supports bi-wire or bi-amp hookup, and a removable cloth cover holds by hidden magnets.
Pairing
With two stereo amplifiers, the split terminals let the woofers and the upper section run on separate channels.
