The Victa Elite 702 is the only floorstanding model in the Victa Elite series from the German brand HECO. It is a three-way design standing about one metre tall, listed by HECO at EUR 449, and offered in black or white. The rest of the series consists of the Victa Elite 202 bookshelf at EUR 299, the larger 302 bookshelf at EUR 429, the Center 102 with two 120 mm woofers at EUR 199 and the Sub 252 A, an active subwoofer with a 250 mm driver priced at EUR 549.

Key specs that matter

HECO fits four drivers in each enclosure. Two 170 mm woofers handle the bass, a 170 mm unit takes care of the midrange, and a 28 mm Fluktus tweeter with a silk compound dome covers the top octaves. HECO rates the range from 25 Hz to 40,000 Hz, sensitivity at 91 dB with 2.8 V at 1 m, and nominal impedance at 4 to 8 ohm. Power handling is 170 W RMS and 300 W maximum. The cabinet measures 202 x 1,050 x 310 mm in width, height and depth, a figure that includes the spikes.

Engineering and use context

A ferrofluid-cooled tweeter uses a ferrite double magnet. Woofers and midrange sit in solid steel baskets and are fixed with screwed decorative rings of eightfold design, while their cones use long-fibre material shared across the series. HECO describes the crossover as elaborate and optimised for phase and amplitude. Air moves through a reflex tube that is shaped for smooth airflow and screwed into place so that high levels do not produce flow noise. All Victa Elite cabinets are made from MDF with rounded multi-layer side panels. Height-adjustable spikes are supplied with either metal or rubber tips. HECO positions the design for stereo use and equally for home theatre, in which the Center 102 and Sub 252 A extend the system.

Pairing

The connection panel carries solid gold-plated, capsulated screw terminals in two pairs, so bi-wiring is possible, as is bi-amping from a second stereo amplifier. HECO names a suitable amplifier power band starting at 30 W and ending at the maximum rating. The Sub 252 A that completes a surround system has a 100 W continuous and 200 W peak amplifier, reaches down to 22 Hz and offers an adjustable crossover. In a home theatre build the same black or white finish runs across all Victa Elite models, so the tower can be matched visually with the centre, the subwoofer and either bookshelf model used for the surround channels.
