The Direkt Premium 75th Anniversary Edition is the HECO two-way tower reissued to mark 75 years of the German brand, which today belongs to Premium Audio Company LLC, part of VOXX International. The original Direkt range appeared in 2016 in plain matt white or black. For the anniversary run HECO kept both colours but added a walnut veneer insert down the centre of the front panel, and the edition went on sale in January 2025. The pair price stayed at EUR 2,998, the same figure as nine years earlier, while in the USA one speaker costs USD 1,499.

Key specs that matter

HECO uses a bass reflex two-way layout built around a 275 mm paper cone woofer-midrange and a 28 mm silk composite dome tweeter. The handover between them happens at 2,150 Hz. Rated range is 25 Hz to 33,000 Hz, falling to 34 Hz to 29,000 Hz at the -6 dB points. HECO specifies 94 dB efficiency at 2.8 V and 1 m, an impedance of 4 to 8 ohm with 4 ohm nominal, and power handling of 200 W continuous and 320 W peak. Suggested amplifier output lies between 20 and 320 W. On its feet the speaker stands 998 mm tall, 440 mm wide and 397 mm deep, the enclosure alone being 900 mm tall and 200 mm deep, and each unit weighs roughly 26 kg.

Engineering and use context

HECO sized the MDF enclosure at 78 litres to give the large woofer enough air volume for low bass, with braces inside to keep panel resonance down. Its reflex openings point toward the floor. The cabinet tilts backward by 6 degrees and rests on a metal stand with three feet, which spreads the load evenly and accepts either metal or rubber spikes. The tweeter sits in a Fluktus Wave Control horn and uses a strong double magnet, while the woofer cone is kraft paper in a die-cast aluminium frame. Crossover parts and internal cabling were chosen for tight tolerances, with oxygen-free copper conductors on the low-frequency side and a twisted, low-inductance lead for the treble. Tweeter output can be left linear or raised by 2 dB at the terminal panel. Magnetic grilles cover the woofer and the tweeter separately, and the corners of the box are rounded.

Pairing

The high efficiency lets even low-powered amplifiers drive these speakers to loud levels, but because of the low nominal impedance, an amplifier rated for such loads is the sensible match. Bi-wiring and bi-amping are supported through gold-plated screw terminals.
