The A3t is the entry-level tower speaker from Perlisten, based in Verona, Wisconsin, and belongs to the A-Series, the most affordable line in the range. The launch price was USD 2,495 per speaker. Perlisten designed it for 2-channel music playback and equally for multi-channel use in home cinema and surround systems with height channels, so the same model can serve 2-channel owners and cinema builds.

Key specs that matter

The A3t is a 2-way bass reflex design with three drivers. Impedance is 4 ohm nominal with a 3.0 ohm minimum. Over a listening window from 100 Hz to 10 kHz the response is held to a 2.0 dB tolerance either way. The upper limit sits at 27 kHz, and at minus 10 dB the low end reaches 22 Hz. In a room Perlisten gives the bass extension as 26 Hz at minus 6 dB and 17 Hz at minus 10 dB. The recommended amplifier power is 50 to 300 W. The cabinet stands 1285 mm tall, 280 mm wide and 390 mm deep.

Engineering and use context

Perlisten fits a 35 mm composite Teteron dome tweeter, set into a waveguide designed specifically for this range, which Perlisten uses to control the dispersion pattern of the speaker. A pair of 215 mm woofers with carbon fibre diaphragms share the bass and midrange work, and a port vents the cabinet. The same tweeter and woofer types appear across the whole A-Series, and the larger A4t tower uses three woofers where the A3t has two. Perlisten highlights custom crossovers and cabinet engineering as common to the line. Peak SPL at 1 m in the upper range is 112.5 dB, and 111.0 dB with second and third harmonic distortion kept below 3 percent. Satin Black is the only finish, and grilles are an optional extra rather than part of the standard package. The A-Series comprises four models and sits below the R-Series and the S-Series, and it also includes the A3m compact monitor and the A2s on-wall surround model, which lets a buyer build a full A-Series cinema around a pair of A3t towers. At launch the A3m was listed at USD 3,590 per pair, the A2s at USD 995 per speaker and the A4t at USD 6,990 per pair.

Pairing

The low impedance means any partnering amplifier or AV receiver needs to cope with low-impedance loads without strain. For cinema use the A3t can take the main front positions, with A-Series monitors and surround models filling the other positions.
