The 3040c is a compact floorstanding loudspeaker in the 3000c series from British brand Q Acoustics, aimed at smaller living spaces. It went on sale in July 2026 and completes a range that also includes the 3010c, 3020c and 3030c standmounts, the larger 3050c tower, the 3090c centre channel and the 3060s subwoofer. Launch prices were GBP 599, EUR 899 and USD 1,099 per pair, and the maker's US store later listed it at USD 999.

Key specs that matter

Two 120 mm mid and bass drivers work with a single 22 mm tweeter, with the crossover set at 2.4 kHz. Q Acoustics quotes a response of 43 Hz to 30 kHz measured at minus 6 dB. Sensitivity is 88 dB at 1 m with 2.83 Vrms at 1 kHz, nominal impedance is 6 ohm and the minimum dips to 4 ohm. The recommended amplifier power is 25 to 120 W. Effective internal volume is 26.8 litres. Each speaker stands 942 mm tall, 285 mm wide and 281 mm deep including stabiliser and spikes, and weighs 14.6 kg. Buyers pick between satin black or white paint and the Pin Oak and Claro Walnut finishes.

Engineering and use context

The cones follow the Continuous Curved Cone profile, mixing traits of straight and flared shapes to control the bass and blend smoothly with the tweeter. The tweeter itself is derived from the Concept series and sits in a sealed enclosure that isolates it mechanically from the cabinet, shielding it from panel vibration and internal pressure. Point to Point bracing stiffens the areas of the enclosure most prone to vibration. Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser tubes inside the cabinet disrupt standing waves, and a vented inner chamber allows a lower crossover point for easier driver integration. The front baffle is laminated with butyl rubber and trimmed in black acrylic to damp vibration. Behind the cabinet there is a reflex port tuned with the HPE system, and foam plugs come in the box for it. An aluminium stabiliser with adjustable spikes widens the footprint for stability.

Pairing

Only one set of speaker terminals is provided, and it is set into a low, recessed rear plate, so the cabinets can stand closer to a rear wall than speakers with protruding binding posts. With a minimum impedance below the nominal rating, a current-capable amplifier is the safer choice, and moderate integrated amplifiers or stereo receivers within the rated power range suit a room of about 20 m2.
