The XC Diamond is the X-Series stand-mount from Estelon of Estonia, a ported passive two-way loudspeaker delivered with its own integrated stand. The current version is the Mk II, which brought a new diamond tweeter, a revised crossover, new internal cabling and a new stand compared with the original XC Diamond.
Key specs that matter
Two 173 mm Accuton mid-woofers with ceramic membranes work with a 25 mm Accuton inverted-dome tweeter made of diamond. Estelon quotes a frequency response of 45 to 60,000 Hz, linear to 33,000 Hz, sensitivity of 91 dB at 2.83 V and a nominal impedance of 8 ohm with a minimum of 4.9 ohm at 3.4 kHz. The power rating is 150 W, and the minimum recommended amplifier power is 20 W. With its stand the speaker measures 1,260 mm tall, 332 mm wide and 394 mm deep and weighs 49 kg. The recommended room size runs from 16 to 45 m2.
Engineering and use context
Estelon forms the enclosure from a marble-based composite and follows the curved shape used across the brand's range. Its form avoids parallel walls, which reduces internal reflections and standing waves, and the inside is divided into acoustically optimised chambers with structural bracing. Because the stand is part of the design, the drivers sit at a fixed height and the tweeter-to-woofer geometry does not depend on third-party furniture. The diamond dome pushes the upper limit of the response to 60 kHz. The crossover is designed to keep phase coherence across the handover between the two mid-woofers and the tweeter, and all internal wiring is Kubala-Sosna. Six standard finishes are offered - Black Lava, Blue Cobalt, Red Rocket, Silver Pure Alu, Violet Night and White Gloss - and Estelon paints custom colours to order.
Pairing
High efficiency and a benign impedance make the XC Diamond a simple match for amplifiers of moderate output, including valve designs above the recommended minimum. The impedance minimum sits in the tweeter region rather than the bass, so the current demand on the amplifier stays modest compared with 4 ohm loudspeakers. At the other end, the power rating leaves room for larger solid-state power amplifiers. With two mid-woofers loading a reflex enclosure and deep rated extension, adding a subwoofer is a choice, not a necessity, in rooms within the quoted size range.
Alternatives
Estelon's Aurelia is a smaller sealed two-way from the A-Series with two 132 mm papyrus-cone drivers and a textile dome tweeter.
