The XC is the stand-mount model of Estelon's X Series, from the Estonian company founded in 2010 by designer Alfred Vassilkov. It was inspired by the XA floorstander and built to the same standards as the floorstanding collection, for rooms where the larger X Series models would be excessive. The current XC Mk II comes with a redesigned integrated stand, an upgraded crossover and new cabling.
Key specs that matter
This ported two-way uses two 173 mm Accuton ceramic mid-woofers and a 25 mm Accuton CELL ceramic inverted-dome tweeter. Frequency response is 45 Hz to 30 kHz, sensitivity is 91 dB at 2.83 V and nominal impedance is 8 ohms, with a minimum of 4.9 ohms at 3.4 kHz. Power rating is 150 W and the minimum amplifier power is 20 W. With its integrated stand, it measures 1260 mm high, 332 mm wide and 394 mm deep and weighs 49 kg. Estelon recommends rooms of 16 to 45 m2.
Engineering and use context
The cabinet is cast from a marble-based composite, whose high density damps panel vibration. Its undulating form avoids parallel internal walls, which prevents standing waves, and its softly curved front reduces diffraction and spreads dispersion evenly. Accuton ceramic cones are extremely stiff, pushing their break-up modes above the range in which they operate. Two mid-woofers share the low-frequency load, raising bass output from a compact enclosure, and the inverted-dome tweeter keeps its voice coil close to the plane of the cones for time alignment. The crossover is Estelon's own design, and internal wiring is pure copper Kubala-Sosna cable. The stand forms part of the loudspeaker structure and fixes the tweeter at the intended listening height. Internal bracing and acoustically optimised chambers add rigidity. Each cabinet is finished in a twelve-layer paint process that takes several weeks and ends in hand polishing, with six standard colours, from Black Lava and Blue Cobalt to Violet Night liquid gloss, with custom finishes on request. Its mid-woofers and tweeter come from the same families as those in the larger floorstanders, so XC speakers integrate as surrounds in multichannel systems with X Series fronts.
Pairing
Thanks to its efficiency and a load that never dips far, the XC can run from low-power valve amplifiers, while its power rating also allows larger solid-state designs.
Alternatives
Estelon's YB is the smaller stand-mount two-way of the brand.
