Полочная акустика — ELAC Designer Series DCB41-DS

The DCB41-DS is a special edition of the ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41 powered speaker pair, produced for ELAC's Designer Series together with Adsum, the American menswear label that Peter Macnee started in Brooklyn, New York, in 2015 around streetwear drawn from traditional workwear. The model was presented in Munich at High End 2024 under the name Debut ConneX Adsum. The complete system was priced at EUR 649, which is EUR 120 above the regular DCB41.

Key specs that matter

Both speakers use a vented two-way layout with a 4.5 inch polypropylene woofer and a 0.75 inch soft dome tweeter in a waveguide, with the crossover point at 2 kHz. Amplification is 50 W for each channel. ELAC quotes 66 Hz to 25,000 Hz measured anechoically and 50 Hz to 25,000 Hz in a room, along with distortion of 0.20 percent or less, noise 90 dB or more below the signal and a maximum output of 102 dB at 1 m. Every speaker measures 140 mm wide, 247 mm high and 170 mm deep, and the powered unit weighs 3.4 kg against 2.8 kg for the passive one.

Engineering and use context

The inputs cover HDMI ARC for a television, a USB port that accepts audio up to 24 bit and 96 kHz, an optical socket, Bluetooth with aptX and an analogue RCA pair that can be switched to phono for a turntable. There is also a line output for connecting a subwoofer. All electronics sit in the active speaker, which feeds the passive partner through ordinary speaker terminals, and a rear knob sets volume and selects the source, with an LED showing the chosen input. The reflex port fires backward through a folded S-shaped channel, and an XBass circuit that raises low output can be switched off. Firmware updates are loaded through the USB port, and the power supply accepts 120 to 240 V. Compared with the standard DCB41, the Adsum version is coated in a uniform cream colour, replaces the fabric grille and its plastic pins with a magnetically attached metal grille in the same shade, and adds low stands made of bent metal tubing in a Bauhaus style, roughly 5 cm high. The infrared remote is finished in cream as well.

Pairing

As a complete system the pair needs only a source, such as a TV over HDMI ARC, a phone via Bluetooth, a computer over USB or a record player on the phono input. Because the phono stage is built in, a turntable without its own preamplifier can be connected directly, and the small cabinets fit on a desk or a sideboard.

Alternatives

For the same electronics without the Adsum styling, ELAC offers the standard Debut ConneX DCB41 bookshelf pair.
