The Debut ConneX DCB61 is a powered stereo bookshelf pair from ELAC and the bigger sibling of the DCB41, built around the same idea of one active cabinet holding all the electronics and feeding a passive partner through its speaker output. ELAC made it available on April 22, 2025, at USD 699.98 per pair, in Black Ash, Crisp White, Olive Green and Walnut. Against the DCB41 it moves to a larger woofer, raises amplifier output and upgrades the HDMI connection from ARC to eARC.
Key specs that matter
Both enclosures use a vented two-way layout, combining a long-excursion 6.5 inch woofer with a 3/4 inch soft dome tweeter mounted in its own waveguide. The amplifier rating is 160 W RMS and 320 W peak for the system, which works out to 2 x 80 W RMS. Frequency response is 48 Hz to 22 kHz at -3 dB and 41 Hz to 24 kHz at -6 dB. ELAC quotes distortion of no more than 0.1 percent THD and noise at least 90 dB below the signal. Every enclosure is 205 mm wide, 330 mm high and 243 mm deep, and the pair has a net weight of 10.9 kg.
Engineering and use context
The input panel carries HDMI with eARC for a television, an RCA input that can run as a line input or feed the internal phono preamplifier, which suits moving magnet cartridges, a USB audio port accepting 24 bit and 96 kHz, an optical socket and Bluetooth with aptX as well as the LC3+ codec at the same maximum resolution. Dolby Digital decoding is built in, with multichannel soundtracks folded down to the two speakers. The bass reflex port sits at the back and follows an S-shaped path, which ELAC designed to extend low output while keeping port noise down. ELAC's XBass circuit adds low-frequency extension and output, and a setting disables it. Cabinets are made of reinforced 12 mm MDF and come with removable grilles. A companion app for iOS and Android handles EQ, input choice, volume and the Auto On function, and an infrared remote is supplied in the box. Besides the speaker output for the passive unit, the rear panel has a subwoofer output.
Pairing
No separate amplifier or DAC is needed, so the system connects straight to a TV over eARC, a computer over USB, a smartphone via Bluetooth or a record player with a moving magnet cartridge through the phono input. Owners who later want more low-frequency output can connect an active subwoofer to the dedicated sub out.
Alternatives
The smaller ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41 uses a 4.5 inch polypropylene woofer and two 50 W amplifiers in a cabinet about 140 mm wide.
