The T1 Silver Supreme Edition is the upgraded version of the smallest T-series model by Børresen Acoustics, the Danish brand that Audio Group Denmark launched in 2018 alongside its Ansuz and Aavik lines. The T-series arrived in March 2025 and replaced the earlier 0-series. The SSE costs EUR 50,000 per pair against EUR 35,000 for the standard T1, and in the USA the price of USD 57,500 includes matching stands and six Darkz T2S resonance control discs.
Key specs that matter
The T1 SSE is a two-way monitor pairing an RP94 ribbon planar tweeter with a 5 inch IronFree5 Titanium SSE mid and bass driver. Quoted bandwidth is 40 Hz to 50 kHz, impedance sits near 6 ohm, and Børresen asks for amplification above 50 W. Sensitivity is 86 dB. Each cabinet is 454 mm tall, 200 mm wide and 475 mm deep and weighs about 11.5 kg. The supplied stand is 716 mm high, 296 mm wide and 462 mm deep, at about 6.5 kg. Buyers choose black or walnut, both in high gloss.
Engineering and use context
Børresen drivers use a patented iron-free motor in which four neodymium rings sit in a mirrored arrangement and pole rings replace the usual iron parts, cutting inductance to roughly a twelfth of a conventional driver. In the SSE version these pole rings are handmade from silver instead of copper, and the metal parts are cryogenically treated to raise conductivity. The woofer cone is a three-layer laminate of an aramid honeycomb core between carbon fibre skins, carried in a titanium basket designed with finite element analysis so that it does not block air moving behind the diaphragm. The tweeter takes over from around 2.5 kHz, has a moving mass of 0.01 g, reaches 94 dB efficiency on its own and needs no transformer. A serial crossover built with paper-insulated foil coils, arrays of military-spec stack-foil capacitors and metal strip resistors keeps the drivers phase-locked through the crossover region. Internal wiring is Ansuz Gold Signature with active Tesla coil technology. The cabinet uses thick block-milled hardwood braces, carbon fibre reinforcement and a rear venting system through which the drivers decompress.
Pairing
Because stands and isolation discs come in the box, the main decision is the amplifier. The load and sensitivity figures favour a solid-state design with generous current reserves rather than a low-power tube amplifier.
Alternatives
The standard Børresen T1 uses the same two-way cabinet with copper pole rings instead of silver.
