The T1 is the two-way stand-mounted loudspeaker of the T-series from Børresen Acoustics, a Danish company within Audio Group Denmark. The series went on sale in March 2025 and replaces the earlier 0-series, carrying over technology from the M-series at a lower price. Each T model is designed and built by hand in Denmark, and the range consists of the T1 plus the floorstanding T3 and T5, all three also offered as Silver Supreme Edition versions. The standard T1 was announced at EUR 35,000 per pair and the Silver Supreme Edition at EUR 50,000.
Key specs that matter
A Børresen RP94 ribbon planar tweeter works from about 2.5 kHz upward, and a 5 inch IronFree5 driver covers bass and midrange. The ribbon has a moving mass of only 0.01 g and an efficiency of 94 dB of its own. The complete speaker is rated at 40 Hz to 50 kHz, 85 dB at 1 W with a nominal 6 ohm load, and Børresen asks for more than 50 W of amplifier power. Its cabinet is 45.4 x 20 x 47.5 cm (H x W x D). A matching stand is 71.6 cm high, 29.6 cm wide and 46.2 cm deep. Finishes are black high-gloss lacquer or real walnut veneer.
Engineering and use context
In place of a conventional iron-core motor, the IronFree5 uses four N52 neodymium rings in a patented mirrored alignment. Two non-magnetic copper rings, one inside and one outside, separate the magnet pairs, keep the assembly cylindrical and the gap width uniform, and improve heat dissipation. The cone has three layers laminated into one part - an aramid honeycomb core between two spread tow carbon fibre skins, with graphene and boron whiskers in the epoxy resin. The crossover is a serial type with foil-wound coils insulated by paper, military-spec stacked foil capacitors and metal strip resistors for the tweeter. Cabinets combine lacquer, carbon fibre reinforcement and wood veneer, with thick hardwood braces milled from solid blocks and a rear venting system. Standard models use cryogenically treated copper pole rings and Darkz T2 resonance control devices. The Silver Supreme Edition switches to silver pole rings, titanium driver baskets and upgraded Darkz T2 parts, and cryogenic treatment there also covers internal wiring, coils and tweeters.
Pairing
With low sensitivity the T1 favours an amplifier with generous power reserves beyond the minimum guideline, while the nominal impedance avoids the steep impedance demands of a 4 ohm design.
Alternatives
The Børresen 01 is the compact stand-mounted model from the older 0-series that the T-series succeeds.
