The JBL TUNE 710BT belongs to the TUNE range of wireless headphones and uses a closed-back over-ear layout. It folds into a compact shape for travel, and because a detachable audio cable is included in the box, it keeps playing in wired mode after the battery has run down. JBL offers it in several colours. JBL describes the design as lightweight, with padded earcups and a single multifunction button on the right earcup for calls, playback and voice assistant access.

A polymer lithium-ion cell rated at 690 mAh and 3.7 V powers up to 50 hours of music playback with Bluetooth on, and recharging from empty needs under 2 hours through the USB Type-C port with a 5 V 1 A supply. Engineering and use context

Wireless operation relies on Bluetooth 5.0 with the A2DP 1.3, AVRCP 1.6 and HFP 1.7 profiles, transmitting in the 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz band at under 10 dBm with GFSK, pi/4 DQPSK and 8DPSK modulation. Thanks to multi-point, the headphone can stay paired with a tablet for video and a mobile for incoming calls simultaneously. A 5 minute top-up charge adds about 3 more hours of listening. For hands-free use, the integrated mic is specified at -40 dBV plus or minus 3 dBV at 94 dB and 1 kHz. Operation is rated up to 45 degrees C. There is no active noise cancelling in this model. Supplied with it are a USB Type-C charging lead, the analogue cable, a quick start guide, a warranty and warning leaflet and a safety sheet.

Pairing

It works both wirelessly and over the cable. Playback, volume and call controls work with both Android and iPhone handsets. The TUNE 710BT links straight to handsets, tablets and PCs that support the A2DP profile. The detachable cable allows a wired link to any source with an analogue headphone output, and in that mode the modest load and high passive sensitivity let a phone or laptop jack drive it without a separate amplifier.
