The Quantum 200 is a wired, closed over-ear gaming headset from JBL with a flip-up boom microphone. It appeared in 2020 as part of the Quantum series and combines QuantumSOUND Signature tuning with memory foam ear cushions, a lightweight headband and materials that JBL describes as chosen for durability through time and wear.

Key specs that matter

The ear cups hold 50 mm dynamic drivers. Frequency response per JBL is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with sensitivity at 100 dB SPL at 1 kHz and 1 mW, 32 ohm impedance and a 30 mW input ceiling. The headset cable is 1.2 m long with a 3.5 mm plug, and a separate 1.5 m PC splitter is supplied. Weight is 245 g.

Engineering and use context

Its microphone is a voice focus directional boom that flips up out of the way. It has auto on/off and mute features, so raising the boom mutes it and lowering it brings it back into use. The capsule measures 4 mm by 1.5 mm, has a frequency response from 100 Hz to 10 kHz and a sensitivity of -40 dBV at 1 kHz/Pa, and JBL specifies echo cancelling for it. JBL designed the headset to work fully with Windows Sonic, the spatial surround system built into Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One consoles. The headset has a volume control, the boom takes a detachable windshield foam on the boom and ear cups that fold flat. Through its analogue plug the Quantum 200 connects to PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, VR systems and mobile devices, and JBL points to its connectivity guide for platform details. On PC the connection is made through the included splitter, meant for computers that split headphone and microphone into two sockets, while Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, mobile, Mac and VR connect through the single plug. The high sensitivity makes it easy to drive from a console controller, laptop or phone.
