The Nightingale Pro is an in-ear monitor with a detachable cable from Sivga Audio, the Chinese headphone brand that combines wooden faceplates with metal shells across its range. It is built around a single planar magnetic driver and sells for USD 269, and the box contains six pairs of tips covering small, medium and large fittings, a leather carrying case and a user manual.
Key specs that matter
The acoustic core is a 14.5 mm planar magnetic driver with a multi-magnet structure based on several high-performance neodymium magnets. The composite diaphragm is 0.008 mm thick, and the conductor printed on it is an aluminium ribbon only 0.006 mm thick. Sivga lists a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40 kHz, a sensitivity of 107 dB with a tolerance of 3 dB and an impedance of 16 ohm with a tolerance of 15 percent. The weight is 14 g. The supplied cable is 1.2 m long, with a tolerance of 0.2 m, and ends in a 4.4 mm balanced plug.
Engineering and use context
With planar magnetic technology the entire membrane is driven by the flat conductor pattern lying between magnet arrays, rather than by a voice coil at the centre of a cone, and Sivga states that its magnet layout is intended to raise efficiency and improve transient response. The shells are cut on a five-axis CNC machine from aviation-grade aluminium-magnesium alloy, which keeps them light and rigid, and the nozzle carries the ear tips that set the seal in the canal. The faceplates are zebrawood, sanded, polished and coated to protect the grain. The cable is a 26 AWG Litz design with eight braided strands combining plain and silver-plated single-crystal copper conductors, and it connects to the earpieces through the standard 0.78 mm two-pin interface. As a result it can be exchanged for another lead terminated differently.
Pairing
The low load and high sensitivity let most portable sources drive the Nightingale Pro, but the stock plug requires a balanced output. Any player, dongle or desktop amplifier fitted with a Pentaconn socket accepts the plug directly, while a phone or laptop with only a single-ended socket needs an aftermarket two-pin cable with that plug.
Alternatives
The Sivga M300 is a lower-priced wired model of the brand, built around a 15.4 mm dynamic driver in an ebony and aluminium housing.
