The JBL Live 460NC is an on-ear Bluetooth model fitted with Adaptive Noise Cancelling. It sits in the Live range and combines a detachable audio cable, multi-point Bluetooth, voice assistant access and automatic play and pause, with a comfort-fit fabric headband and soft ear cushions shaped around the head.
Key specs that matter
A 40 mm dynamic driver works in each earcup, and the stated frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a 32 ohm impedance, a sensitivity of 96 dB SPL at 1 kHz/1 mW and a maximum SPL of 92 dB. The headphone weighs 210 g. A 750 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery at 3.7 V supplies up to 50 hours of streaming when ANC stays off, or up to 40 hours with ANC active. Charging from empty takes under 2 hours, and a 10 minute top-up delivers 4 hours of play.
Engineering and use context
Noise control offers three modes. Adaptive Noise Cancelling reduces outside noise, Ambient Aware raises surrounding sounds for walking on busy streets, and TalkThru lowers the music while amplifying speech so a conversation can happen without removing the headphone. Buttons on the earcup manage calls, and the microphone system is specified at -30 dBV at 1 kHz/Pa for what JBL calls stereo calls. A tap on the earcup or a voice command reaches the preferred voice assistant, and with Hey Google set up, the owner can switch ANC or Ambient Aware, check remaining battery or power the unit off by voice. Sensors pause music once the headphone leaves the head and resume it when it is put back on. The My JBL Headphones app changes EQ presets, selects the voice assistant and adjusts Smart Ambient settings. Bluetooth 5.0 is used with HFP 1.7, A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6 profiles, transmitting between 2.402 and 2.48 GHz at below 13 dBm with GFSK, pi/4 DQPSK and 8DPSK modulation. Power input is 5 V at 1 A, and maximum operating temperature is 45 degrees C.
Pairing
Multi-point connection lets the Live 460NC hold a pair of sources at once and move between them, such as a tablet video and an incoming phone call. Google Fast Pair connects it straight away to Android devices. The supplied audio cable allows wired listening with a flat battery, and a Type-C charging cable is also in the box together with a warranty card, a warning card and a quick start and safety sheet.
Alternatives
JBL also offers the Live 660NC as a wireless noise cancelling headphone in the same Live range.
