The Knight is an in-ear monitor in universal-fit form, made by Noble Audio, the American company founded by John Moulton in 2013 that specialises in custom and universal in-ear monitors. Noble positions it as an entry point to its range, and it launched on 3 January 2025 at USD 289, with UK and European prices announced as GBP 269 and EUR 309.

Key specs that matter

The Knight places three drivers in each earpiece in a tribrid layout. A 10 mm dynamic driver with dual magnets covers bass and sub-bass, a single Sonion balanced armature handles the midrange, and a piezo super tweeter takes the high frequencies. The quoted response runs from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Sensitivity is 104 dB SPL per mW and impedance is 26 ohms. The earpieces use standard 0.78 mm 2-pin sockets with left and right markings.

Engineering and use context

The shell is machined aluminium, finished with a three-dimensional acrylic faceplate in a blend of deep purple and blue. Each nozzle ends in a short protruding section that holds the eartip and carries a stainless steel wax guard, and a small pinhole vent sits near the recessed 2-pin socket. The supplied cable has eight strands of woven OCC conductors with silver plating and a skin-friendly PU coating, and it is terminated in a 4.4 mm balanced plug with gold-plated copper contacts. Because the connection is the common 2-pin type, the cable can be swapped. The box includes three pairs of medium-bore grey silicone tips, three pairs of wide-bore grey silicone tips, three pairs of foam tips, a velour carrying pouch and a cleaning brush, together with a custom eartip case. Noble's broader history includes wireless products such as the Falcon Pro from 2020 and the FoKus Prestige from 2023, and in 2018 Jim Moulton became a 50 percent owner of the company.

Pairing

With the stock balanced termination, the Knight connects directly to portable audio players, USB dongle converters and desktop headphone amps that have a matching balanced output. Sources with only a 3.5 mm single-ended jack need either an adapter or a replacement 2-pin cable with that termination. Noble presents the Knight as keeping the brand's build standards while lowering the price of entry to its catalogue, and it was offered through Noble's own online store from the release date.

Alternatives

A higher step in the same wired range is the Noble Van Gogh, a four-driver hybrid with one dynamic driver and three balanced armatures.
