The EAH-AZ60M2 is a true wireless earphone set from the Panasonic-owned Technics label and carries active noise cancelling, the JustMyVoice call feature and multipoint pairing in a compact pair of earpieces. Panasonic lists it with a USD 249.99 suggested price and a release date of July 2023, and it comes in black, silver and blue.

Key specs that matter

An 8 mm driver sits in each earpiece, which weighs approximately 7 g, while the charging cradle adds approximately 45 g. Connection runs over Bluetooth 5.3, Class 1 at 9 dBm, with a range of up to 10 m and the A2DP, AVRCP, HSP and HFP profiles. Audio codecs on offer are LDAC, AAC and SBC. With AAC and noise cancelling on, one charge of the earpieces lasts approximately 7 hours, or 7.5 hours with cancelling off. LDAC shortens this to approximately 4.5 hours with cancelling and 5 hours without, and SBC gives 6.5 and 7 hours. Counting the cradle, total running time ranges from approximately 16 to 25 hours depending on codec and cancelling mode. The earpieces carry an IPX4 equivalent rating, which covers the earphones only and not the case.

Engineering and use context

Each earpiece runs from a 3.7 V lithium polymer cell of 85 mAh, and the cradle holds a 650 mAh cell of the same chemistry. A 15 minute top-up gives approximately 70 minutes of use with AAC and cancelling on. Full charging takes approximately 2 hours for the earpieces and 2.5 hours for the case over USB at 5 V and 500 mA, while charging the complete set on a Qi wireless pad takes 3.5 hours. Calls use mono MEMS microphones, with call time of 4 to 5.5 hours depending on the voice feature selected and standby of 9 to 15 hours depending on cancelling status. Multipoint support covers up to three devices at once, and voice assistants can be called up from the earpieces. Charging is specified between 10 and 35 degrees Celsius and use between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius, at 35 to 80 percent relative humidity without condensation. The box holds seven earpiece sizes - XS1, XS2, S1, S2, M, L and XL, two of each, with M fitted - plus a USB charging cord of approximately 0.2 m.

Pairing

As a Bluetooth product the EAH-AZ60M2 connects straight to phones, tablets and computers without a separate amplifier or converter. Sources that transmit LDAC make use of the highest-resolution codec it accepts, while AAC and SBC cover devices without LDAC.

Technics also makes the EAH-AZ100, a true wireless model launched on 23 January 2025 that brought the magnetic fluid driver of the wired EAH-TZ700 into wireless earbuds.
