The NAD C 268 is a Classic Series stereo power amplifier, built on the HybridDigital UcD design. It is meant for use after a preamplifier, for bi-amping, or, bridged, as a mono amplifier, and NAD lists it at USD 1,299.

Engineering and use context

NAD states that the UcD platform keeps noise and distortion low and stays composed with demanding loudspeakers. An efficient switch-mode supply sends stable voltage to all stages and delivers high current for peaks. Bridging is selected with a single switch, and NAD positions this mono mode for more demanding loudspeakers. Both balanced and single-ended inputs are fitted, and an input level control lets the gain be matched to the source or the rest of the system. A line output passes the input signal on so further amplifiers can be daisy chained. Automatic turn-on senses an incoming signal with a selectable threshold, and a 12 V trigger input and output tie its power state to other components. A ground lug helps against hum between devices. The detachable AC cord and a supply that accepts mains voltages worldwide simplify use in different regions, and standby draw is under 0.5 W.

Pairing

Any preamplifier, or a streaming DAC fitted with volume adjustment, can drive the C 268 through either input type. NAD names its C 379 and C 368 integrated amplifiers as matching partners, with their preamplifier outputs feeding a bridged C 268 for extra headroom with demanding loudspeakers. Adding another C 268 allows running both bridged as mono amplifiers or splitting the speaker sections through the line output.
